"What is Coulee Region Modelers?"
We are a group of individuals who share a common interest in
Model Aviation. Our club is chartered by the ACADEMY OF MODEL
AERONAUTICS, and all club members are required to be current members
of AMA.
Members range in age from 10 to late 70's. We are non-exclusive; the
only requirement is an interest in model aviation and a desire to
grow in a hobby which is enjoyed by all. There is an initiation fee
and annual dues.
All club members share a responsibility in maintaining a flying site
that is second to none. We are fortunate to have a flying field that
is ideally situated, well maintained and uncommonly beautiful.
You may find out more by speaking to one of the members at our flying
field or by attending one of our meetings which are held on the first
Thursday evening of each month beginning at 7:00 PM. During the
summer months, we meet at the club flying field on CTH MM. During the
late Fall, Winter and early Spring, we have been meeting at ABC
Hobbies in La Crosse.

Is it difficult to learn to fly R/C aircraft...?
Learning to fly an R/C airplane takes some patience and practice. It
is a learnable skill for most people. Experienced club members are
available as instructors to take you through the learning stage to
become a solo pilot. Some persons are more adaptable than others, and
some inherent eye-hand coordination and spatial perception must be
trained and developed in order to translate what we see into what we
do in order to make the airplane obey our radio-transmitted commands.
Usually, persons who are skilled automobile drivers can learn the
skill necessary to fly R/C model aircraft, except there is a third
dimension to flying, and we are not inside the moving airplane.

Who gets interested
in this hobby?
Just about anybody with an interest in aviation, flying and some
skill for building can master the sport. You can still get started at
any age; even though you have had no previous experience with model
airplanes. There is always someone ready to help you with any phase
of the modeling activity from procurement to building to preparation
for first flight to flight testing to flight instruction.
There are people from all walks of life in Coulee Region Modelers:
teachers, plant workers, professionals, business owners and retired
persons make up the roster. When you become a member of Coulee Region
Modelers, you can get the help to launch a life-long hobby and a
chance to associate with some of the friendliest people in the community.

Visit our flying field
There is often flying activity when the weather is suitable on
weekends, and sometimes during the week. You will be welcome to drop
by the flying site and chat with the members there and watch the
flying activity. On any given day, it may be gliders, large scale or
aerobatic planes or a combination of several types, but the fliers
are anxious to tell you about their hobby and how much fun they are having.
Just follow the map below to the top of 10-Mile Hill, then a right
turn onto CTH MM and you are practically there. A large sign marks
the driveway onto the field, and there is ample parking right at the
flight line. Just speak to one of the people there, and you will
receive a warm welcome.
